JUNIOR HIGH
Integrating
to the CLASSROOM
The beginning of the school year has brought new students and new teachers together at Valley View Junior High. As we get ac-
quainted with each other in the classrooms we become aware of new ways of delivering instruction and student learning. Stu-
dents at our campus are using Chromebooks and iPads for daily instruction throughout the day. In their Reading classes they
use Pear Deck, Edmodo, and Quizziz-all interactive, presentation tools to actively engage students in their learning. Students

are absorbed in their work as they answer Math problems using the Kahoot applicationon their iPads. Chromebooks are also
utilized for weekly assessments and also to read e-books and take comprehension quizzes on the Accelerated Reader program.
Undoubtedly, technology integration at our campus has enhanced classroom instruction and student learning.
Canned Food Drive for
Hurricane Harvey Relief
Due to the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Harvey,
Mrs. Jessica Dominguez, 7th Grade Reading teacher, organized
a canned food drive at our campus to help provide relief to
those affected by this catastrophic event. All items donated by
VVJH faculty, staff, and students will be delivered to the Ingle-
side Police Department so they can distributed as they see best
fit for their community. We are encouraged to see so many of
our students participate in this effort. Several voiced their con-
cerns for the people affected in the area and said they’d like to
contribute even if it was just “one can of tuna”. That “one can of
tuna” plus all the other cans will make a difference.
