Instructional Practices: High School Students Begin
Their Fieldwork
Valley View ISD has added a new program at the high school
level to encourage future educators. Instructional Practices is
a field-based (practicum) internship that provides students
with background knowledge of child and adolescent devel-
opment as well as the principles of effective teaching and
training practices. Students learn to plan and direct individu-
alized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional
materials, develop materials for educational environments,
assist with record keeping, and complete other responsibili-
ties of teachers, trainers, paraprofessionals, or other educa-
tional personnel. Our Valley View High School students can
help by partnering up with a teacher and assisting that
teacher in their classroom. Students are required to have
field experience working with children in order to be eligible
to complete their Educational Aide I certification. The first co-
hort of students consists of 17 seniors and 1 junior. Good
luck to this mighty group of future educators!
