TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT - SAFETY FIRST!
The Transportation Department at Valley View ISD held a presentation with DPS troopers on
site as part of the 2019 National Bus Safety Week activities. Bus Drivers and supervisory team
received important Information/Updates as far as pre and post inspections that are conducted
on a daily basis, before each bus departs for route. Texas Highway Patrols were on site to
remind all drivers of the importance of such inspections. Drills were conducted with some of
our drivers to ensure inspections were done according to state and district guidelines. State
Troopers were available to answer any questions our drivers might have in regards to bus
safety and laws. In addition to the drivers participating in the DPS presentation, drivers and
state troopers also visited some elementary campuses to perform emergency evacuation
drills with children on site. DPS emphasized the importance of children remaining calm and
exit buses accordingly, ensuring all children are kept safe in the event of an accident on route
or eld-trip.
Students were on board the buses and performed mock drills with outstanding response from
each student, actively responding to the state troopers instructions. Mr. Alejandro Rodriguez
emphasizes the importance of children safety on and off the bus. Mr. Rodriguez also reminds
everyone to drive safe and adhere to state laws during loading and unloading students.
Troopers were impressed with our bus drivers’ cooperation during the pre and post
inspections and the emergency evacuation procedures presented.“
