Valley View ISD’s Migrant Department focuses on students whose parent or guardian is a migratory
agricultural worker. Our goal is to provide programs that will help our Migrant students and support
parental involvement. We want our students to experience academic success and reach performance be-
yond high school. We do this by helping them build their strengths and eliminating any barriers. To en-
sure this takes place we work closely with our Migrant parents. Therefore, we create a Parent Advisory
Council (PAC) that helps guide decision-making for the academic success of our Migrant students. This
year our PAC met on September 30, 2021 and elected council officers. Our officers are Alma Perez,
President, Edna Driscoll, Vice President, Gustavo Guerra, Secretary, and Yadira Jimenez, Member. The
PAC will meet periodically to ensure student success. On November 4 of this year, representatives of
Michigan State University met with our high school Migrant students. On November 10, students will
visit UTRGV Brownsville and TSTC Harlingen to explore their post-secondary options.
