Dear Valley View ISD family,
TEA mandated that we begin in-person classes on September 21, 2020. Thanks to a waiver that was
approved, we were able to transition back to October 19, 2020. This allowed us an additional four
weeks of distance learning in which we were able to prepare a transition plan to meet the needs of
our Valley View ISD community.
We have now completed week four of instruction with teachers and students fully engaged in
distance learning. We have spent a considerable amount of time preparing, planning, collaborating,
and reaching out to students and families. Materials have been successfully distributed, and students
have been attending regularly scheduled classes with live interactive sessions with teachers and
classmates. Teachers have prepared their virtual classrooms, with some teachers reporting to their
school site to deliver distance learning. We want to thank our staff, students, and parents for
working together to continue to provide education for our students.
As Valley View ISD transitions into reopening its campuses, it is expected that our community
works together to continue to provide education for students in an environment that maintains the
safety and well-being of its members. Rest assured that every effort is being made and every
appropriate precaution is being taken to achieve that goal. Although we are bound by TEA
mandates to begin in-person instruction, all parents will continue to have the option of keeping their
children home to continue with distance learning.
Please, take time to review the following updates;
Return to School Survey is due by September 25th. Keep in mind that if you don’t submit a
response your child will automatically continue with distance learning for the second six
weeks.

As we continue to plan to reopen our campuses in October, we know we may need to alter our
plans due to the COVID-19 cases in the RGV. This means that staff, students, and parents will
need to be prepared to quickly move between learning models.
It is important to reach out if you need assistance. The Valley View ISD District Team, principals,
and teachers are here to support you, and our district team is deployed to support our staff in their
work.
We are One, We Are Strong, We Are Valley View.
Sincerely,
Monica Luna
